About the event
Contemporary First-Person Supernatural Oral Narratives and Belief
Jacqueline Harris will share contemporary first-person supernatural oral narratives that she has collected and discuss the role of belief in influencing the way such stories are told and received.
She explores this both as a practicing storyteller/story gatherer, and through her academic research, looking at how issues of belief, from the perspective of both the teller and the listener, affect the telling, gathering and study of contemporary supernatural first-person oral narratives; and why now is a particularly good time to explore such stories.
Jacqueline Harris MScR is a storyteller, writer, theatre-maker and researcher. This talk is based on her own practice along with original research she undertook for a Masters at The University of Edinburgh in The School for Scottish Studies.
