Stony Gaze: Talk and Pottery Workshop

The disembodied human head expressed in its most basic form - the 'archaic head - has been an enduring symbol of our interface with other worlds. Found in prehistoric god-heads, on swords, wells, master furniture, gables, thresholds and wherever some magical protection or communication was felt appropriate, the image recurs through Britain's religious and folkloric history from prehistory to the present.

All materials will be provided for this fun and relaxed hand-building session, where participants will create their own clay head inspired by archaic stone carvings.

The finished pieces will be fired after the session. Participants will be contacted when their clay heads are ready for collection from the Todmorden Folklore Centre Library at a later date.
