About the event
"There were three men came out of the West, their fortunes for to try, and these three men made a solemn vow; John Barleycorn must die!"
The Harvest season is a time of commemoration, nourishment and fecundity as the Earth turns once more to reap the fruits of hard and tenacious labour.
With sickle and scythe in hand, the ability to grow produce has dramatically impacted our everyday lives, tipping the scales between life and death which has given rise to a variety of rich traditions  across Britain. From Crying the Neck to The Caseg Fedi, Lammas to Michaelmas come join the Centre for Folklore Myth and magic to learn how this time was celebrated both in antiquity and today. This includes the variety of festivals and feasts, the liminal spirits that roam the golden fields and the associated lore of additional entities associated including Saints, Fairies and Scarecrows.
