Icy Sedgwick- A Tour of an English Corpse Road

Recording of online talk.

The English corpse road appears to be an eerie remnant of the rural landscape, wending their way across the loneliest parts of the Lake District and Dartmoor to connect isolated villages to their nearest churches. Yet their sole use was letting people carry their loved ones on their final journey to the churchyard, all while ensuring that their loved ones didn't follow them home. In this talk, we'll explore the history and folklore of these roads, taking a detour to explore the lore around coffin rests, and enjoy a dash of ghost lore along the way.
