Cat's Cradle Fundraiser
Many thanks to local band, Cat's Cradle for putting on this event with proceeds going to The Folklore Centre. This will raise funds to achieve our goal of fully digitally cataloguing our huge library collection, and putting on community events and opportunities to engage with the books we hold here in Todmorden.
Music, folklore and connection: a fundraiser for Todmorden’s Folklore Centre. Seated listening. A Blackstonedge Records promotion.
Cat’s Cradle are an acoustic 4-piece folk band playing inventive, intricately constructed original songs and tunes, by turns atmospheric, rhythmically driving, joyful, dark and gentle. Using voices, mandolin, tenor banjo, bodhran, piano, whistle and cello, several traditions get woven in: from the very local, to the UK, eastern Europe, prog and chamber music; all wetted down with a bit of northern rain. The Folklore Centre in Todmorden celebrates and explores our intangible cultural heritage through talks, workshops and conferences, it also holds the UK’s largest community folklore library, providing access to a wealth of folklore and expertise.
